[How-To] Easy Potstickers

  • 07/20/11 - Staff

There are some foods where the process of making it can be a fun activity in of itself. We would categorize homemade Asian potstickers in that group. Asian potstickers are fun to make and a great way to de-stress. It's a great bonding activity to do with the family, a group of friends or with the kids (kids love making their own). Here is our simple recipe for easy-to-make Korean style potstickers. Make + enjoy!

(Ingredients)
1 cup mung bean sprouts
1/2 head small cabbage, finely chopped
4 green onions, chopped
3 gloves of minced garlic
1/4 cup tamari or light soy sauce
2 tbsp sesame oil
1 tsp salt

2 eggs, beaten
1 lb ground beef or pork
1 package potsticker wrappers

(Dipping Sauce)
1/2 cup light soy sauce
1/2 cup vinegar
(optional) sprinkle of red pepper or chopped green onions

Sprinkle chopped cabbage with salt for about 30 minutes, rinse and squeeze excess water out. Blanch bean sprouts for about 3 minutes in boiling water, drain and squeeze out excess water. Squeeze tofu in a cheesecloth draining excess water and crumbling the tofu. Combine the sprouts, cabbage, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ground beef evenly. Add beaten eggs and combine thoroughly. Fill each wrapper with a teaspoon of filling (try not to overfill or the wrapper seams will not close). Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water (or beaten egg whites), fold and seal making sure there are no air bubbles when sealing the wrapper together. Crimp edges with fingers by pinching and folding the edges to make pleats. Fry or boil to eat.
